M.Sarlis

Image
He was born on 07- 06 -1880 in Adadola village, Ambalangoda. In 1909, Sarlis was fortunate enough to work with Richard Hendrikus, one of the island's foremost painters, at the Jayatilakarama Temple in Grandpass.   Sarlis also became a follower of Hendrix, who was accustomed to drawing in the Western realist tradition. The main Buddha statue at Jayatilakarama Vihara in Grandpass was completed by Sarlis.   While working on the project, he started painting at the Maligakanda Vihara under a disciple of the great painter Gurunnance of Kadolgalle.   Explaining his mastery of the art, he completed its design after 9 years. Many Sinhala homes of this era used pictures of the Victorian royal family or Western models as wall decorations. Ella Rock

Image
If you love living green, then Ella is obviously a place to visit. Ella Rock is one of the place which proves it. Trekkers would love the place. It’s bit tiring to do the hiking. But it is definitely worth it. Once you got to the summit you will realize why we said so. The panoramic views it provides with mist and cloud covering the area, especially in the early mornings and the late evenings are something you should witness and that would suffice enough to say that you visited Ella. Total time for climbing up and down is 4 hours. Yes, sounds like a long journey. But the way up there is with full of diversity. If you are starting form Ella train station, you would enjoy the rail walk, and soon as you started climbing up, you will be passing a waterfall, the rubber tree forest and tea plantations. On a rainy day, it can be slippery, so better be cautious with what you wear for the journey. Wear something suitable for a hiking and towards the end of the hike, route will get bit har...

My mother

My mother is a kind lady. She is very good at her behaviour. Everybody in the family likes her. She has many qualities of head and heart. She is highly educated and intelligent. She is very hard-working, kind, caring and loving. Her love for us has no limits She is a housewife and ever busy. She gets up earlier than others and goes to bed last of all. She cooks food, washes our clothes, looks after our every need and comfort. She enjoys serving us. Sometimes, I feel sorry for her and help her in her work in my own humble way. Her love and care are a great source of inspiration. They help me in keeping good health and being cheerful. It is because of her that I am so good at studies. If I am ill she would leave no stone unturned to look after me till I get well and healthy. She prepares many delicious dishes for us. We can never forget her services and sacrifices. She is really great, wonderful, loving and kind. Nothing...
