Buttala - Kataragama road is the easiest and nearest road to Kataragama for those around Ella, Wellawaya and Monaragala. Travelers on this route have a very common experience. That is, due to the ''Yala" Forest Reserve on both sides of the road, the animals that live there are a bittersweet experience for motorists to cross across the road. It's a bit of a nightmare for motorists traveling at night.
Today there is an event that is visible to everyone who walks this path. That is, the boundaries of what the wild elephant calls the "Galge" of the main road. Stay in one lane of the road.
People are accustomed to giving the fruits brought by the devotees to the pooja on their return and to take them to the elephants on the way to feed them.
